A Sump Lid Matters

In our business we are very concerned about sneaky spots in the basement that want to send radon anywhere but the mitigation pipe. That’s why we work so hard at sealing all those cracks and crevices. A mitigation system can only work properly when radon is funneled toward the fan and expelled through the pipe.

However, the sump pit creates a bit of a quandary. On the one hand, we want to seal that pit so that radon isn’t tempted to use it as an entry point to your living space. On the other hand, it’s really important to be able to check the water levels in the sump pit to make sure the sump pump is doing its job properly. The solution is a view port.

In this video, David explains how view ports work and why we use them with every radon system we install. Enjoy!
